Women in Turkey

"...Women's participation in politics is still very low, with a representation of 9% of women in the parliamentand only 1.5% in the local councils; women literacy rate is increasing but not at a desired pace; violence against women is another crucial and urgent issue to address. In addition, extremely low levels of participation of women in paid labor market, with a rate of 24% and even reaching only 4% in the southeast Anatolia region is another important issue to tackle."
